G4S Technology is proud to be the first in the security manufacturing industry to be awarded the ISO 14001 Standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS), the only environmental standard recognised worldwide. The drive to attain this award was in response to the growing customer demand for goods and services to be delivered in a socially and environmentally responsible way.
Being awarded ISO 14001, demonstrates an innovative and forward thinking approach to both existing and prospective customers and employees, as well as allowing better management of their environmental risks, both now and in the future.
Meeting this commitment is a primary senior management objective; as well as an individual and collective responsibility of all employees.
Energy Usage
We aim to maximise energy conservation through adoption of best practices. Where practicable, computerised heating, lighting and ventilation controls are installed in buildings.
Recycling & Waste Management
We are committed to recycling of materials where possible and have installed a recycling centre in the UK manufacturing facility, where all manufacturing and stores waste is recycled responsibly. Our commitment does not end there as all employees are encouraged to dispose of recyclable waste at designated recycling points.
Paper Products
Where possible, we make use of environmentally friendly products and services. We recycle all packaging materials used for incoming products, and use shredded paper and packaging materials when shipping our manufactured goods.
Business units throughout the organisation are encouraged to consider the use of environmentally friendly products where possible.
We integrate the following guiding principles into all decisions affecting our internal and external operations:
- Comply with all applicable international environmental legislation and requirements as well as local environmental by laws;
- Establish and maintain management systems based on ISO14001 and other Best Practices;
- Integrate environmental concerns into our business plans and decisions – including the design, implementation and support of our processes and services;
- Reduce environmental impacts and conserve natural resources by;
- Continual improvement of pollution prevention and waste minimization activities
- Responsible management and safe disposal of unavoidable waste
- Swift corrective actions to any pollution incident
- Open and transparent communication to any affected parties
- Work with suppliers and customers to promote environmental practices;
- Promote and encourage personal accountability for protecting the environment;
- Regularly review and improve this policy and guiding principles.
